It explains how to navigate the platform, view engagement profiles, complete surveys, and track progress in leadership capabilities. Managers can use this information to support their team members' growth, identify areas for improvement, and recognize achievements.

Written Walkthrough
1. Navigate to https://coaching.soundingboardinc.com and log in as a manager.
The Manager's Direct Report Overview provides a snapshot of an individual team member's leadership development. Select a specific direct report to view their engagement profile, Leadership Roadmap, and overall progress in their professional growth journey.
2. Direct Report Navigation
On your Manager Dashboard, to view more information on an individual -
- Click The individual's name, or anywhere on the card
3. Overview
You will be directed to the direct report's profile on the overview tab. You will see
- Engagement Overview - highlighted by engagement type (1:1 coaching, group coaching, or mentoring).
- Sessions Complete - showing the total sessions completed based on the engagement type.
4. Give Your Input
Throughout a coaching or mentoring engagement, managers may be asked to provide feedback periodically to share their observations on their direct report's development. These surveys aim to identify examples of your the direct report's developmental progress, assess the manager's impact on their direct report's development, and invite the identification of areas where further development will be valuable.
Additionally, completing surveys provides a visual representation of your direct report's developing against a key set of leadership capabilities over time. It compares initial ratings of the direct report's leadership capabilities with the most recent ratings. This offers insights into where there is alignment between the manager and their direct report on areas of strength and areas for development, and where coaching or mentoring may be focused for further growth and development.
If you have any surveys to be completed for your direct report, they will show under this section. You will see
- Survey Name
- Urgent - Surveys will show as urgent for two weeks after you have received it, and Manager's Perspectives will always show urgent.
- Date Received
- Direct Report's Name
If you are ready to complete an available survey -
- Click "Complete Survey"
- Visit My Surveys to learn how to complete surveys.
Note: You can scroll to the right to see older surveys if you have further surveys available.
5. Goals Shared With You
The Leadership Roadmap, a feature in the Sounding Board app, allows your direct reports to chart their leadership development goals and track their advancement. It serves as a guiding framework for their developmental journeys.

6. Work In Progress Leadership Capabilities
You can think of leadership capabilities as combined sets of skills and mindsets used to impact the daily business of the organization more strategically as a leader. Leadership capabilities are embedded throughout our platform as they provide a frame and focus for leadership development.
Here, you will see Leadership Capabilities, which your direct reports have goals associated with.

7. Leadership Capability Growth
This section provides a visual representation of your direct report's change in perceived confidence in their ability to demonstrate the leadership capabilities over time. It compares initial ratings of the direct report's leadership capabilities with the most recent ratings. This offers insights into where there is alignment between the manager and their direct report on areas of strength and areas for development, and where coaching or mentoring may be focused for further growth and development.
- Displays up to 20 leadership capabilities
- Shows ratings from both you and your direct report
- Manager scores are indicated in orange (taken from your initial Manager Perspective form, and then from checkpoints throughout the engagement)
- Direct report self-reported scores are indicated in blue
- Uses pins to highlight the latest scores and dots for previous data points
Includes all survey data, with midpoint scores clearly indicated
This dynamic view allows you to track your team member's development journey, identify trends, and focus on areas needing further development or deserving recognition.
