Once coachees have been added to a program, Sounding Board recommends sending a Development Snapshot survey to be filled out.Â
👤 Note: In coaching engagements, this survey is called the Development Snapshot. In mentoring engagements, this survey is still called the Leadership Profile — you may see either name depending on which type of engagement you're in.
The Development Snapshot is Sounding Board’s version of an intake form and a foundational tool for leader development experiences like coaching and mentoring. It encourages the coachee & mentee to pause and reflect on their leadership development, goals, values, and self-perception. This reflection helps capture their unique approach to leadership. The profile provides a structured and efficient way to begin engagements, giving the coach & mentor the crucial information needed to jump right in from the first session.
Here are a few additional callouts about why the Development Snapshot  Matters:
- Self-Assessment of Leadership Capabilities: A critical part of the Development Snapshot is the self-assessment and rating of the coachee's & mentees' leadership capabilities. They will evaluate themselves on a set of key leadership capabilities that their organization has identified as essential for leader development. This process establishes a baseline for their capabilities, allowing them and their coach to track and measure their progress throughout the coaching engagement.
- Note: As part of the coachees' & mentees' manager’s dashboard, they will be able to see these ratings – as compared to their ratings – but this is the only element of this Development Snapshot they can see.
- Value of Leveraging Technology for a Deeper Understanding: Completing the Development Snapshot highlights technology's powerful role in enhancing the coaching & mentoring experience. By leveraging technology, they can gain deeper insights and maximize the impact of their coaching engagement.
- Jump Start Goal Creation: Through completion of the Development Snapshot, in their first couple of sessions, their coach will help them translate what they share here into a few key development goals that will become the focus of their coaching work.
